Yahoo! and MobiTV, a provider of mobile and broadband television and music services, have formed a new mobile advertising alliance. Yahoo! will be the ad network partner for MobiTV's mobile video advertising sales and delivery - providing access to an integrated mobile media-buy across all advertising modes, including text, banner and mobile video, the companies said in a joint statement.

"MobiTV is the pioneer in mobile television and we are excited to work with them to continue to grow the mobile advertising marketplace," said Bruce Stewart, vice president, business development, Yahoo!.

"Clearly this alliance provides a broad spectrum of value. In the near term MobiTV will leverage Yahoo!'s w advertising sales and systems capabilities," said Jack Hallahan, vice president of advertising for MobiTV.

Yahoo! will use technology to deliver mobile video advertisements across MobiTV's range of live television and premium programming, the companies said.

This move by Yahoo is to tackle the dominance of Google in the realm of PC-based search advertising. Yahoo wants to have an early start when it comes to advertising on mobile phones.
