China Plans Venture Into Mobile TV in 2007 |

Mobile users in China will be able to watch television on their mobile screens as the State Administration for Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) has announced plans to try Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) mobile TV services in mid-2007 a year ahead of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
Besides mobile phones, big-screen Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) and MP4 players will also be able to receive TV signals, said Yang Qinghua, director of the television division of the SARFT's broadcast science research institute.
China's mobile phone TV market is expected to reach 6.05 bln yuan in 2008 as China has more than 400 million mobile phone users and the number is increasing by 5 million a month, according to the Ministry of Information Technology. Enditem
