European telecom companies Siemens and Nokia have inked an agreement to work together to ensure interoperability between Siemens HiPath MobileConnect Enterprise Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) Solution and dual-mode Nokia Eseries devices and Nokia Intellisync Device Management Software. This agreement, executed as part of Siemens' Open Communications strategy, brings together two players in mobile enterprise communications technology to create the FMC solution. The complete solution will include Siemens' SIP-based HiPath VoIP platforms, its HiPath Wireless portfolio and the recently announced HiPath MobileConnect, along with the Nokia Eseries business devices and Nokia Intellisync Device Management software, the companies said in a joint statement.
"We see a huge opportunity for enterprise customers to benefit from Fixed Mobile Convergence," stated Luc Roy, VP Product Planning, HiPath Wireless, Siemens Communications, Inc. "This agreement ensures that Nokia Eseries devices and device management software fully interoperates with our HiPath MobileConnect solution today", he added.
The agreement between Nokia and Siemens Communications lays out design, development and testing standards to give mobile workers capabilities using their dual-mode Nokia Eseries devices in a business FMC solution. Siemens will now certify dual-mode Nokia Eseries devices as part of its partner program. Also as part of the agreement, Nokia will market and recommend the Siemens solution to its customers and Siemen is planning to become a reseller of the Nokia Intellisync Device Management solution to its customers. Both parties will participate in the other's respective partner programs, the Nokia Enterprise Zone, the Nokia for Business Channel Program and the Siemens Communications Technology Partner program, the companies stated.
