Inspired by the success of iPhone by Apple, Google has finally decided to try its luck in the phone market and has hired the team that created Sidekick phone for TMobile. The team will help Google construct the GPhone, the much talked about phone from Google that will have all Google features that one sees on its site.
An article in the Guardian reported that Google has already teamed up with several mobile operators, including Vodafone and T-Mobile, to bring its search engine to other phones.
The company has also been forming partnerships with handset makers. In January it signed up the Korean manufacturer Samsung to put features including its search engine, Google Maps and its e-mail service on to phones manufactured by Samsung, the Guardian reported.
However, Google’s managing director Richard Kimbler is quoted as saying "At this point in time, we are focused on the software, not the phone."
