Asia To Overtake Europe in Mobile TV |

As Europe struggles to find bandwidth for mobile TV services, Asia is set to overtake Europe in adopting mobile television broadcasting.
Though Europe has had a lead in mobile TV with various operators offering the services, bandwidth crunch has really hurt the hard. On the other hand mobile operators in Asia hope that mobile TV could encourage users to spend anywhere between USD7-13 a month to compensate for declining revenues from voice calls.
However a lack of consensus on business models and the variety of different technologies was one reason why mobile TV is not being adopted in a mass way in Asia.
Globally telecom operators are using single technology DVB-H (digital video broadcast--handheld), while in South Korea, Japan, US and China, domestically developed technology are being used.
Some of these other technologies are also aiming for the global market, preventing services from being offered worldwide under a single standard. |
