Motorola To Launch Razr 2 This Week

Motorola is launching the second version of its highly popular phone MotoRazr this week. Though it will be available initially only in the US to begin with, other countries will get to use the phone within a few months of the launch.

MotoRazr2 is little wider than the earlier version, yet it is lighter and thinner, has more internal capacity and can play video and audio.

When launched MotoRazr was a make or break model for Motorola. Motorola entirely depended on its success. Motorola was fast losing its share in the global mobile phones market as smaller rivals such as Samsung and LG were catching up very fast. Motorola, which had lackluster phones in its arsenal had to launch a blockbuster phone to get to the top place it once enjoyed.

MotoRazr did the trick and Motorola soon grabbed the top spot, selling almost a million handset in a year. However this also meant Motorola depended too much on the success of this phone and after a while, it started losing its market share again, this time because rivals were quick to offer other phones which were as thin as Razr yet had more features.

Now Motorola hopes to recreate the magic of being called as a innovative phone makers with the launch of Motorazr 2.
