Sprint Launches Xohm WiMax Services

Sprint, one of the largest US telecom firm has branded its WiMax services as Xohm (pronounced Zoam). It has been working on the mobile broadband Internet technology for almost a year year now.

"We are going where no telecom company has ever gone ‘the open Internet’ and we are making a name for ourselves as a wireless innovator, so much so that we are officially changing the name of the business unit," said Barry West, the company's chief technology officer and president of 4G mobile broadband.

Sprint has been planning Xohm for almost two years and with the acquisition of Nextel last year, Sprint gained significant airwaves suitable for rolling out the technology and now it has finally rolled out by branding it.
