Nokia Siemens Networks will enable PT Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel), the biggest mobile telecommunication provider in Indonesia to provide innovative value added services for its 50 million active subscribers and thus enhance users’s mobile experience. The new solution enables Telkomsel to extend its value added services through applications such as Advertising, Information Finder, and Friend Finder for its 50 million active subscribers throughout Indonesia.

As a service leader in telecommunication industry in Indonesia, Telkomsel, will be utilizing Nokia Siemens Networks’s state-of-the-art Location Based Services solution in its foray of the Location Based Services market in Indonesia. Nokia Siemens Networks will also integrate its future-proof and cost-effective solution, which includes the latest intelligent Gateway Mobile Location Centre (iGMLC) platform, into Telkomsel’s mobile network.

"Telkomsel’s commitment is not only delivering the largest coverage of cellular network, but also enhancing its users’s mobile experience through value added services. This partnership marks our entry into the location based services market, which will benefit the users extensively and improve their dynamic lifestyle," said Andreuw Th. A.F, Telkomsel Vice President Network Operation.  He adds, with hundreds of cities scattered in the vast regions of Indonesia, they believe that location based services will not only be a luxury application, but also a necessity.

The Location Based Services solution is highly flexible and supports both GSM and WCDMA/3G location based services simultaneously, giving Telkomsel the opportunity to provide attractive new services which are based on the locations of its users. Applications such as Information Finder will benefit users when visiting cities they are unfamiliar with. They will be able to access location specific information of important facilities, such as hospitals and police stations. With the robust solution from Nokia Siemens Networks, the operator will be able to deliver various location based services to meet its customers’s demands and gain real business results.

"The new solution offers Telkomsel a cost-efficient means of deploying location based services as well as excellent scalability and flexibility in terms of capacity and choice of positioning technologies," said Arjun Trivedi, Head of Nokia Siemens Networks Indonesia.

Nokia Siemens Networks's solution also offers minimized integration efforts and operation costs, due to its pre-integrated hardware elements, as well as multi-vendor interoperability with standards-based and open interfaces.
